Prix Pathé Winner 2022: Emilien Gür
Emilien Gür
Endowed with a 10’000 Swiss franc cash prize, the "Prix Pathé" honours exceptional journalism in the filmmaking sector. Funded by Pathé Schweiz and Pathé Films AG, the prize will be awarded during the 18th Zurich Film Festival.
The winner this year is Emilien Gür, a film critic for the Filmexplorer platform who has also worked in various positions at the Solothurn Film Festival since 2020: He was head of the festival's Cinetour section and assistant to the programming management and directors from 2020 until 2022. He has been working as head of the sections "Upcoming" and "À l'atelier" since June of this year. Emilien Gür is also a member of the selection committee for the Queer Short section of the Sicilia Queer Film Festival.
The jury statement on Emilien's entry read, "With tenderness and poetic grace, Emilien Gür's trenchant words in his review of WET SAND and its atmosphere spark the imagination. He has managed thereby to transcend the textual form and appeal directly to the senses. One can literally smell the sea, feel enveloped by the sounds in the beach bar, and fully immerse oneself in the cosmos of the film. Moreover, Gür classifies the film very cleverly and almost incidentally in terms of film history, and his respect for this cinematic work is palpable in every line. The film review stood out for its pictorial uniqueness and both convinced and delighted the jury."
