Cowboy Poets
The image of the heroic cowboy riding through the wide-open country dominates movies to this day. In COWBOY POETS, we learn about a lesser-known passion of American cowboys and cowgirls. Since 1985, poets, songwriters and musicians have come together at the Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Nevada. British filmmaker Mike Day's "view from the outside" accompanies various cowgirls and cowboys who record their unique way of life in poems and songs and who, more than ever, have to ask themselves where their place is in today's world. The film shows their rough and ready everyday life as well as their creative work and combines this with breath-taking nature shots to create a piece of nostalgic "Americana".
