Valeria Is Getting Married
Visibly tense, the young Ukrainian Valeria sits in an apartment somewhere in Israel. In a few moments, she is to meet her future husband, Eitan, for the first time. Her sister Christina, of all people, acts as a go-between. She herself is married to an older Israeli man and has arranged the same life path for Valeria. But she is not very enthusiastic about her sister's plans – and even less so about Eitan when he walks through the apartment door. When Valeria refuses to accompany Eitan home, the situation quickly comes to a head. With razor-sharp dialogues, director Michal Vinik stages a chamber play that is as entertaining as it is dramaturgically sophisticated.
