Two years after the revelation of the Panama Papers, the journalists of the investigative department of the Süddeutsche Zeitung are examining new alarming cases. The political assassination of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia and a mysterious arms dealer linked to Iran's nuclear missile programme keep the editorial team on its toes. When a video is leaked to them in the spring of 2019 that heavily incriminates Austrian Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache, events come to a head. For the documentary, Germany's largest daily newspaper provides a unique insight into the work of its renowned investigative team. Pure suspense and a plea for the Fourth Estate.
About the director(s)
Daniel Andreas Sager was born in Berlin and grew up in Moscow. He first studied ethnology and philosophy before studying directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and the UCINE in Buenos Aires. His films have screened and won awards at international film festivals around the world. He was previously invited to participate in competition at the ZFF with THE LONG DISTANCE. He works as a freelance director, journalist and cameraman. His film HINTER DEN SCHLAGZEILEN world premiered at CPH:DOX 21.
