by Fatih Akin Gala Premieres

Mardin, 1915: Nazaret Manoogian loses everything he has: His family, his house, his language. One night, the Turkish police round up all the Armenian men in the city and take them to the desert, where forced labour and death await. After managing to survive the horrors of genocide, he receives news years later that his twin daughters, who he took for dead, also escaped the massacre. Nazaret’s life takes on a new direction as he sets out to track down his two children. His prolonged journey takes him from the deserts of Mesopotamia and Havana to the barren and desolate prairies of North Dakota. His odyssey brings him into contact with a range of very different people: From angelic and benevolent characters to the devil incarnate.
