Misbehaviour

by Philippa Lowthorpe Gala Premieres

The Miss World competition reached the height of its popularity in 1970 when it was watched on television by over 100 million viewers worldwide. But the image of women propagated by the show is a thorn in the flesh for eager history student and single mother Sally Alexander. Sally and other activists of the Women's Liberation Movement see this year's event in London, hosted by smug entertainer Bob Hope, as the ideal opportunity to shake the world awake. Meanwhile, “Miss Grenada” Jennifer Hosten is also preparing for the competition. She wants to set an example against racism and discrimination by becoming the first black Miss World. Based on true events MISBEHAVIOUR revolves around a memorable beauty contest that has gone down in the history books. A charming moral comedy with the great Keira Knightley playing the lead.
