Internationaler Filmmusikwettbewerb & Filmmusikkonzert

Film Music Competition

189 composers from 38 countries took part in this year’s competition to score for symphony orchestra Erhan Yürük’s five-minute short film TAMAH. The five best entries will now be premiered by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in the presence of the finalists, before the jury chooses the winner of the Golden Eye for „Best International Film Music 2017“, an award endowed with a CHF 10’000 cash prize.

The second half of the evening sees the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under the baton of Frank Strobel, and the exceptionally talented singer Tertia Botha, perform soundtrack highlights from the James Bond films. Nobody readily forgets the name „Bond…James Bond“! Equally unforgettable is the music that his name evokes. With title tracks, villain motifs and funky fanfares from such films as „Goldfinger“, „Licence to Kill“, „Casino Royale“ and „Skyfall“ igniting musical memories since the 1960s, it’s high time we paid homage to the agent with a license to kill!

The evening will also see a guest appearance by Swiss film music composer Fabian Römer, who will present a compilation of film excerpts and music from his score to the film GOTTHARD (2016).

The International Film Music Competition is organised by the Zurich Film Festival and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in collaboration with the Forum Filmmusik.
