by Kelly Reichardt
Three stories set in the North American snow-capped and wide-ranged state Montana. The first follows Laura, a lawyer who has a quick encounter with a married man upon which she returns to the office, where she has to deal with an unhappy client who tends towards unpredictable outbursts of rage. In the second, Gina is attempting at turning the local sandstone into a small holiday home. However, what was intended to potentially save her marriage, results in further conflict. In the third story, Beth, a legal expert, enters an intense, if reticent, relationship with an Indian participant of the class she teaches. Kelly Reichhardt, figurehead of American independent cinema, tells the stories of three strong, independent women in her own minimalistic and laconic style.
