by Jordan Bryon, Monica Villamizar
Jordan Bryon is skating on thin ice. If his queer identity were to come to light, his life would be in danger. In 2021, at the time when Afghanistan is falling back under Taliban rule, the Australian filmmaker is in the middle of transitioning. As a journalist for the New York Times, he documents the daily life of the Islamist and trans-hostile Taliban, despite this presenting him with a moral dilemma of his own. The documentary shows his reporting in an up-close and moving manner and offers an intimate insight into the emotional process of his gender reassignment.
