Wilson wants his citizenship – but that is easier said than done, particularly in Hungary. Ever since fleeing war-torn East Africa, the honest man in his mid fifties has built a new and simple life for himself in Budapest. He has mastered the Hungarian language and found stability in his small apartment, his friends and his job at the local supermarket. He is taking lessons in ‘Hungarian culture’ from history teacher Maria in preparation for his upcoming neutralization test – and the two gradually become close. Things take an unexpected turn when one night a refugee seeking asylum turns up on his doorstep. This moving film openly and honestly portrays the needs, wishes and fears of a foreigner in search of love in an otherwise cold world.
