Scaffolding / Pigumim
At school, Asher is better known for his loud mouth and temper than for his hard work. In any case, his father would rather have the impulsive 17-year-old helping on the building site than preparing for exams. The patriarch of the family is convinced that his son will one day take over the family-run scaffolding business. However, Asher has recently shown an interest in literature, a subject taught in an unusual manner by his charismatic teacher Rami. This unexpected role model seems to have helped Asher overcome his inner turmoil and opened up new and unimagined prospects – until an unexpected event turns the young man’s world on its head. Matan Yair met lead actor Asher Lax while working as a teacher. He developed SCAFFOLDING based on Asher, only to later cast this wonderfully charismatic teenager in the lead role. The camera zooms in on the energetic and deeply sad young man to depict the bittersweet dynamic of a broken father-son relationship.
