Atomic Heart / Madar-e Ghalb Atomi

Ali Ahmadzadeh|Drama

Arineh and Nobahar are driving through Tehran by night on their way back from a wild party. The two young women poke fun at the authorities, postulate bold intercultural theories and wallow in their favourite pop music. Over the course of this long night, the two cross paths with their stoned police officer friend Kami, a mysterious stranger called Toofan (or is it George Clooney himself?) and even Saddam Hussein, all of whom merge to create a tipsy topsy road trip that is as bizarre as it is dangerous. Set in a car, Ahmadzadeh sticks to the distinctive tradition of Iranian cinema, but takes us on a completely different journey in his surreal road movie. ATOMIC HEART is a symbol like no other of the bold and daring new cinema currently emerging from the Iranian metropolis.
