A Woman Captured

Bernadett Tuza-Ritter|DOK: Gesellschaft & Mensch

It’s almost impossible to believe: for ten years, Marish has been treated like a slave by a wealthy family living in the middle of Hungary, at the heart of Europe. The lady of the house, a house that Marish may only leave with her permission, has taken her passport from her. Even her meagre salary, which she earns as a cleaner for a company, goes straight into the pockets of her tormentors. It is equally unbelievable that director Bernadett Tuza-Ritter gained entrance to the house for a fee to thus offer insight into Marish's ordeal. The filmmaker slowly but surely gains Marish’s trust. Encouraged by her presence, she makes the decision to free herself... a gripping and oppressive insight into modern slavery and the return to a dignified life.
