Your vote counts: Choose the new ZFF design
The Zurich Film Festival and the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) have been working closely together since the very first edition. Since 2024, ZHdK students have been designing the festival’s annual visual identity. This year, YOU get to decide which design wins and becomes the poster for the 2026 ZFF.
Every year, several teams from the Visual Communication program at ZHdK get involved and develop creative proposals for the festival’s visual identity. For the first time, the audience—and that includes you—has the final say. Three designs have made it to the final round: Use the this form to select the design you like best. 5x2 ZFF tickets will be raffled off among all participants.
Public voting will run until 8 April, 2026, and the winning design will be announced on 7 May 2026.
Design 1 by Yunna Edens & Irini Karavouzis
Here’s what Yunna and Irini have to say about their design: «The goal of this key visual is to visually capture the magic of the collective film experience at the Zurich Film Festival. At its heart is the connection between the medium of film and the people who bring it to life: the audience. The design is intended to highlight the uniqueness of the ZFF as a place of encounter and new perspectives. The key visual is a symbolic homage to the cinema as a place of immersion and gathering. It positions the ZFF not only as an event for global stars, but as a celebration of the medium that allows us to briefly immerse ourselves in other worlds.»
Design 2 by Mimi Peneva & Nico Frei
Here’s what Mimi and Nico have to say about their design: «The ZFF has many faces, whether they’re the big stars or the countless visitors. Our design draws inspiration from all these people, giving the film festival a fluid, abstract identity. To achieve this, we broke down the existing logo into its individual parts and supplemented them with basic shapes. These building blocks allowed us to playfully paint cubist faces that reflect the art of filmmaking. In their detached form, these building blocks also offer the possibility of creating any format while maintaining a strong recognition value.»
Design 3 von Joelina Ackermann & Shanah Pulgar
Here’s what Joelina and Shanah have to say about their design: «The spotlight is on you: We’ve brought together two defining moments that make up the Zurich Film Festival. The light that falls on the stage and the camera lens that captures the moment. Both are focused not only on the celebrities, but also on the people who bring the festival to life in the first place. Spotlight was born from the conviction that the ZFF is a stage for everyone. That every visit, every moment, every shared movie night has its own magic. We’ve developed a concept that captures exactly this feeling—when the light falls on you and the moment is yours. You’re not just in the audience; you’re in the spotlight.»
