From the Slopes to the Green Carpet: The Skiing World at the ZFF

AIMING HIGH – A RACE AGAINST THE LIMITS brings a moving chapter of Swiss skiing history to the big screen. The film features Swiss skiing stars such as Marco Odermatt and Corinne Suter, who attended the world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival.

Excitement was written all over Marco Odermatt's face as the Swiss ski racer stepped onto the green carpet at Sechseläutenplatz on Friday evening, before enjoying the first screening of AIMING HIGH – A RACE AGAINST THE LIMITS in the cinema with his colleagues. Odermatt appears in the film by Alun Meyerhans and Flavio Gerber, which revisits a significant event in Swiss skiing: the failed plan to establish a new downhill classic at the foot of the Matterhorn at the start of the season in November, with the aim of promoting Zermatt as a ski destination.

Marco Odermatt wasn’t the only one thrilled to see this story brought to life; Swiss ski racer Corinne Suter also expressed her excitement on the green carpet. She shared how emotional and rewarding it was to give the audience a glimpse into the work and effort behind the planned race. The directors Meyerhans and Gerber agree, describing AIMING HIGH – A RACE AGAINST THE LIMITS as an authentic and touching portrayal of the events surrounding a big dream that never came to fruition.
