On the green Carpet on Wednesday evening, Julia Buchmann answers the question, what the main role in FRIEDAS FALL means to her, with excitement: 'It is a tremendous gift!'. The same applies to her visit at the ZFF! Along with the director Maria Brendle and other cast members, Buchmann walked over the Sechseläutenplatz – on their way to the premiere of FRIEDAS FALL.
The fact that the film is celebrating its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival means a lot to director Maria Brendle. She looks back on the last few months with pride and is delighted to be able to show FRIEDAS FALL to the public.
Based on true events, the film tells the story of Frieda Keller. In 1904, the 25-year-old seamstress stood trial in St. Gallen. She was accused of killing her illegitimate child. But is this really true? And just how much of a victim is the alleged perpetrator? The case brings lawyers, the press and civil society to the fore, arguing about how many rights a woman is entitled to. A true, thrilling social drama about equality and justice that led to reforms in the justice system.
The film is scheduled for release in Switzerland at the beginning of 2025. One thing is for certain: Judging from the audience at the world premiere, FRIEDAS FALL is absolutely worth seeing - a moving standing ovation after the screening certainly showed that.
