“My story is not over": Golden Eye Award for Pamela Anderson

On Friday evening, Pamela Anderson walked the green carpet on Sechseläutenplatz together with Gia Coppola. In her luggage: her new film THE LAST SHOWGIRL, which is one of the reasons why the ZFF honored Anderson with a Golden Eye Award at the 20th ZFF.

When you hear the name Pamela Anderson, BAYWATCH is probably the first thing that comes to mind. So does ZFF Artistic Director Christian Jungen, as he admits right at the beginning of his laudatory speech for Pamela Anderson on Friday evening: “Through that series, Pamela created an iconic figure in pop culture”.

But years after the famous series, she proved once and for all that there is much more to Anderson's acting talent with her role in THE LAST SHOWGIRL: “We watched over 3,800 films to put together this year's program, and this one stood out - because it contains both: the performance of the year - and in many ways also the comeback of the year,” Christian Jungen continues. This is why Anderson is not only being honored with a Golden Eye Award for her lifetime achievement or for a specific role, but for both: “At the Zurich Film Festival, we award two types of Golden Eyes: one for lifetime achievement and one for an outstanding performance in a specific film. Tonight we are introducing a third kind of Golden Eye, so to speak, to honor Pamela Anderson - both for her remarkable career and for her stunning performance in THE LAST SHOWGIRL by Gia Coppola.”

«My story is not over»

Even though Hollywood may have written her off long ago, she is delighted that a new chapter is currently opening up in her career, Anderson said in her acceptance speech after receiving the Golden Eye Award: “Please join in my new chapter, there are no secrets...”. So no secrets - and authentic vulnerability, which Pamela Anderson is displaying in the second spring of her career and which makes us look forward to more.
