This weekend, the historical epic WILLIAM TELL by Nick Hamm celebrated its European premiere at the ZFF. On Saturday evening, audiences at the Green Carpet were delighted by the presence of director Nick Hamm and cast members, including Claes Bang.

As part of the Gala Premieres, WILLIAM TELL was screened twice, on both Friday and Saturday. With stunning visuals and gripping battle scenes, the film reimagines the legendary tale. Claes Bang takes on the role of Swiss freedom fighter Wilhelm Tell, who resists the invasion of the Austrian king (Sir Ben Kingsley) to protect his freedom and family. This star-studded adaptation of Friedrich Schiller's classic addresses timely issues of liberty and resistance.

Lead actor Claes Bang confirmed this in his charming German-language interview with the ZFF at the Green Carpet, saying: “For Tell, it was a fight for freedom, and that made the whole story incredibly fascinating!”

Director Nick Hamm also expressed his joy and pride. He acknowledged the significance of the film for Switzerland, adding with a smile: “When you play the movie here in Switzerland, it really means a lot to the people that are watching it!” That certainly makes our hearts beat a little faster…
