As a reporter for the Sunday Times, David Walsh first met Armstrong in 1993. An ambitious sportsman with unwavering self-confidence. Several years later, Armstrong returns to cycling after recovering from cancer, leaves the competition behind him, and cycles his way to sport icon status. However, Walsh is sceptical, particularly after the sport of cycling is hit by one doping scandal after another. Years of research strengthen his suspicions that Armstrong’s success was based on lies and the result of an ingeniously covered-up doping programme. When he makes his findings public, he could be responsible for revealing one of the biggest scandals in sports history – or lose his job.
