    Great success with 68 000 visitors

    The 16th Zurich Film Festival, which closes this Sunday evening, has attracted many more people to the cinema than the organisers had dreamed of. About 100 screenings were completely sold out and stars like Johnny Depp, Juliette Binoche and Til Schweiger were happy to present their works to a real audience again.

    Golden Eyes awarded to Austria, Mexico and the USA

    The Golden Eyes of the three competitions of the 16th Zurich Film Festival go to HOCHWALD by Evi Romen (focus competition), SIN SEÑAS PARTICULARES by Fernanda Valadez (feature film competition) and TIME by Garrett Bradley (documentary film competition). The Golden Eye for the best series goes to CRY WOLF by Maja Jul Larsen, while the children's jury prize goes to THE CLUB OF UGLY CHILDREN by Jonathan Elbers. The prizes were awarded this evening as part of the Award Night ...

    The French filmmaker Maïwenn accepted the 16. Zurich Film Festival’s A Tribute To... Award this evening. The director, screenwriter and actress received the highest honour bestowed by the Zurich Film Festival on filmmakers for their contribution to film history.

    In the year of COVID-19, the Zurich Film Festival once again offers an extensive programme: 23 of the fest’s 165 films screen as world premieres, that’s more than ever before. More than half of the films in the competitions are by women. Young French cinema bathes in the limelight. Stars like Johnny Depp, Juliette Binoche and Til Schweiger come to Zurich.
