Pierre Bergé is the man who did the tireless groundwork for Yves Saint-Laurent and together they revolutionised the fashion world. They met in 1958 through Christian Dior and formed both a business and private partnership. Bergé tells of his fifty-year long relationship, characterised not only by enormous professional success but also by painful private experiences. The Jardin Majorelle in Marrakesh, the Norman-style Château Gabriel and their art collection, amassed with a passion over the years by the two of them, were the fruits of their never-ending search for beauty. In 2008, after the death of Yves, Pierre made the decision to sell the art collection at an “auction of the century”.
