When owning a dog in Hungary suddenly comes with paying a high tax, Lili’s father decides to turn her beloved hazel-coloured Labrador mix ‘Hagen’ out onto the streets. Hagen soon joins a stray pack of dogs and must painfully discover that not all humans have good intentions. Under the newly established leadership of Hagen, the dispossessed dogs turn into a rebellious mob. Lili is aware that she is the only person who can stop the bitter battle between canine and human… Offering spectacular imagery of Budapest’s streets by the extraordinarily talented cinematographer Marcell Rév, director Kornél Mundruczó’s film is a breath-taking, multi-award winning parable about xenophobia in his homeland.
