23-year-old Bill and 12-year-old Matho are at home on the Pine Ridge Reservation of the Lakota in the US state of South Dakota. The charismatic Bill pursues the "American Dream" with determination – no matter whether he has to steal gasoline or breed poodles to do it. Meanwhile, the shrewd Matho can hardly wait to become a man. He desperately courts his father's approval, but a series of impulsive decisions turns his life upside down. The hotly anticipated social drama WAR PONY takes a look at the precarious situation of the indigenous population in the USA, and tells with great humour of the difficult coexistence of rich and poor in the land of unlimited opportunities.
