Wagner-Special: Juliane Banse live & „The Zurich Affair“

After the failed German Revolution, Richard Wagner lived in Zurich from 1849 to 1858 and worked on the new opera "Tristan und Isolde". He was admired and supported by the entrepreneur Otto Wesendonck and his wife Mathilde (Sophie Auster). Wagner (Joonas Sartaamo) began a liaison with her and wrote the famous Wesendonck songs for her. The film by Jens Neubert embeds the liaison, which was the talk of the town on the Limmat, in the political context of the time. To set the mood, Juliane Banse sings the Wesendonck songs live on location. 5.30 p.m.: Opera singer Juliane Banse sings the Wesendonck Lieder 6 p.m.: Screening of "The Zurich Affair - Wagner's One and Only Love"
