Sunshine, a beautiful scenery and a good time with loved ones: a Ukrainian family is spending their last holidays on the island of Tenerife. Little do they know that the next day their lives will change forever when Russia attacks their homeland and their flight back to Kiev is being cancelled. From one day to the next, they are no longer tourists on the volcanic island, but refugees – trapped in paradise. Damian Kocur is a Polish director. He studied at the Krzysztof Kieslowski University and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Lodz. His debut film BREAD AND SALT caused a sensation at the Venice International Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize. Prior to that, Kocur had directed several short films. UNDER THE VOLCANO is his second feature film and made its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.
