Zurich on Christmas Eve: Judith, a dedicated social worker, takes care of the prostitutes working on Sihlquai – and lives out her own sexual fantasies with a police officer rather than her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Lena’s family idyll is shattered when she discovers that on today of all days, the festival of love, her husband is cheating on her with prostitutes. Rolf’s family life seems to have fallen apart at the seams: Newly divorced, he also finds out that his daughter couldn’t care less about him. In an attempt to begin a new chapter of her life, lonely widow Maria gathers up all her courage to invite widower Juan to a festive dinner, but he’s still mourning the death of his wife. The paths of all these protagonists cross that of Mia’s, an 18-year-old Bulgarian trying to make ends meet as a street prostitute. TRAUMLAND is an episodic tale of loneliness, lust and betrayal.
