At the very center of New York City, yet completely separated from society, members of the Angulo family live their lives almost exclusively confined to their apartment. The family’s seven children are seldom allowed to leave the ‘security’ of their living quarters, and then only under the strict supervision of their father, an old hippie who believes that the big city in which they live is not the right place for his children to grow up. The Angulo siblings learned almost everything they know about the outside world from films. The six brothers and their sister’s isolated lifestyle made them creative, they rustled up costumes and makeshift film sets and paraded as caped Batman or suited Reservoir Dogs to create their own (filmic) reality.
