The Man Who Sold His Skin
Kaouther Ben Hania|Satire
"I want your back!" With this sentence, the artist Jeffrey Godefroi makes Sam, a Syrian refugee, an unusual proposal: he offers him the freedom to travel, if he gives up his body for art in return. Sam, who just really wants to see the love of his life again, accepts the offer, which means having a Schengen visa tattooed on his back. However, now a living piece of art, he’s at Godefroi’s beck and call any upcoming exhibition. Director Kaouther Ben Hania successfully shares an entertainingly provocative look at the elitist art scene and at the apathetic attitude of the Western world towards the refugee crisis.
