Chennai, British India, 1913. 25-year-old Srinavasa Ramanujan is a self-taught mathematical genius with no qualifications, money or work. When Cambridge professor G.H. Hardy becomes aware of Ramanujan’s unconventional and ground-breaking theories, a new door opens for the young Tamil in England. In order to take advantage of this chance, Ramanujan must not only leave behind his culture but also his wife. Having barely arrived in England, the First World War breaks out, and the eager student soon learns that the road to recognition is a long and rocky one.
