The Lost Daughter

Leda is a middle-aged woman, mother of two, divorced and totally committed to her work as a professor. She has flown to southern Italy to spend a few carefree days on the beach. But despite the perfect vacation apartment and impeccable service, Leda doesn't feel quite at ease. Is it the encounter with the young mother Nina that is upsetting her? The more obsessively Leda deals with the beach acquaintance and her young daughter, the more she is haunted by the ghosts of her own past – and she slowly but surely loses control. Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Elena Ferrante, this psychological drama about jealousy and guilt is the directorial debut of actress Maggie Gyllenhaal. The film is carried by the brilliant ZFF Honorary Award-winner Olivia Colman.
