Set in the Mid West in the 1960s, Sean Penn’s directing debut tells the story of police officer Joe and his no-good brother Frankie. Good-natured Joe, who together with his family embodies archetypal rural America, attempts to put the driven, angry, cynical Frankie back onto the right track.
