The Boy and the Heron

Little Mahito Maki sorely misses his mother, who died in an air raid. His sad fate suddenly makes an about turn, however, when he encounters a talking heron on his way home. The bird announces to Mahito that his mother is still alive and is being held captive in a mysterious tower. The 12-year-old immediately sets off there, where a magical parallel universe full of mythical creatures awaits him. Will Mahito manage to get his mother back?
