Storm Boy

STORM BOY is an adaptation of the eponymous 1963 children’s book classic by Colin Thiele, which almost everyone in Australia knows. A successful businessman tells his granddaughter that he was once an idealistic boy. On the south coast of Australia he raised Pelican babies together with a friendly Aborigine after their mother was shot by poachers. Once the animals had grown up, the poachers returned. Oscar- winning producer Geoffrey Rush’s drama is extremely up to date: it deals with the coexistence of different cultures and the fragile balance between man and nature, illustrating that environmental activism by teenagers has the ability to turn the minds of adults. Recommended for age 10 or older
