Johan and the married Anna meet on a train. They are drawn to each other by some extraordinary mutual attraction – and a terrible secret: Johan was responsible for the death of Anna’s daughter Tove. Anna still acts as if her daughter is still alive, while Johan conceals the fact that he was the driver of the car that killed her on her way to school. The lies allow the grieving Anna and the guilt-ridden Johan to temporarily live in the present. When the truth eventually surfaces, the two are faced with a difficult decision. This is a film about love, loss and questions of forgiveness.
