Fifteen-year-old Paul has never met his father. His clingy mother raised him on her own. It’s a tender mother-son relationship, but also an unbearably restrictive one for the teenager. One day, Paul finds new friends in the Paris punk scene. Clothes, codes and a whole heap of music – Paul discovers a completely new world that he soon makes his own and throws himself head first into this wild life. His nights are spent at basement concerts or roaming the streets. Not only do friendships, parties and his first big love accompany him on his way, but so do drugs, angst and violence. Paul, however, has only one thing on his mind: Finding his father. PUNK is a passionate diary about the forging of an identity. In this, his second feature-length film, director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire uses intense imagery and raw punk music (from bands including The Addicts and Pestpocken) to pull the viewer into the protagonists’ sea of emotions.
