Never before has there been so much pornography being consumed by so many – and never before have only few people made big money in the industry. While a handful of people sit behind anonymous desks making billions, the outlook for porno actresses in particular is increasingly gloomy. The reason lies in so-called "tube sites", such as Pornhub or YouPorn, which make thousands of user-generated videos and legally or illegally copied professional clips available on the net, free of charge. Behind most all of these sites stands the gigantic and completely inscrutable company MindGeek. In the economic docu-thriller PORNOCRACY, director, active feminist and former porn actress Ovidie attempts to uncover an unknown monster.
