by Roberto Sneider
Eligio wakes one morning to discover his beloved wife, Susana, has packed her bags and disappeared without further explanation. The temperamental charmer, initially clueless, soon discovers that Susana has travelled to the USA to participate in a workshop for emerging writers. Eligio immediately boards a plane in pursuit. Having arrived in Iowa, he must overcome countless misunderstandings before eventually finding his wife. However, far from pleased by Eligio’s childish yet romantic expedition, Susana has other ideas… Roberto Sneider’s film provides the ideal platform for Gael García Bernal and Spanish shooting star Verónica Echegui’s magnificent acting talent. Presented as a romantic comedy, the film deals with the deeply anchored (not exclusively) Mexican ‘machismo’ culture.
