The living situation of farmers in India is precarious and exhausting. Estimates suggest that tens of thousands of farmers in India take their own lives each year. MARCHING IN THE DARK portrays widows who, after the suicide of their husbands, are left alone with their children, their farm and social stigma, depending on psychological support. One of them is Sanjeevani, who impressively manages to find new courage despite her difficult situation. A film that focusses on overlooked fates and lends a voice to those affected. 'A delicate and aesthetically outstanding debut work that carefully illuminates the tragic fates of widows of Indian farmers and their inspiring struggle against social stigma.' – Daniela Engler
