A year after his breakdown, former stockbroker Tung is picked up from the psychiatric clinic by his father. Like his mother, Tung suffers from a bipolar disorder. Soon he comes to realise, that his new home – a claustrophobically small, sub-rented room that he shares with his father – poses a threat to his regained freedom. In order to get back on track, Tung is forced to face his ex-fiancé, a nerve-wracking job, his own family and society’s prejudices… The award-winning low-budget drama MAD WORLD unexpectedly went on to become the year’s most discussed Hong Kong indie film. The winner of Hong Kong’s First Feature Film Initiative casts popular acting star Shawn Yue in an unusually serious character role.
