Los Días de la Ballena / Days of the Whale

Catalina Arroyave Restrepo|Drama

When her mother, a journalist fearing for her life, has to leave the city, Cristina is forced to stay with her loving but boring father – in a place she would rather not be. The young woman feels more at home on the streets where, equipped with a bag full of spray cans, she takes to painting the colours of life upon the walls of Medellín alongside her friend Simón. Her nocturnal activities enable her to keep a grip on life, and it is not only the feeling of freedom and her graffiti that begins to blossom, but also the affection between her and Simón. Bubbling with youthful energy, Catalina Arroyave Restrepo’s debut traces a growing love as it dances along colourful concrete walls through the streets of Medellín, stumbling over family tensions and street violence.
