Kirill Serebrennikov|Drama

Leningrad, in the early 1980s: it is summertime, western punk rock spills from every venue and everything seems possible. With his band, cool guy Mike wows his girlfriend Natasha, as well as the entire city’s youth. Soon, Mike also takes strange newcomer, Viktor, under his wing. Just like Mike, Viktor is dreaming of making it big. Set against the backdrop of the late Soviet era, a bittersweet love triangle unfolds, which conveys the awakening of a whole generation. Russian master Kirill Serebrennikov, who is currently under house arrest, captures with poetic black and white images and a dazzling soundtrack from Iggy Pop to Talking Heads an entire youth's desire for freedom and the subversive power of rock 'n' roll. A wonderfully atmospheric film brimming with fantastic ideas.
