by Manolo Cruz, Carlos del Castillo
28-year-old Alberto lives in a Caribbean pile hut village. An illness affecting his nerves renders him unable to talk or leave the bed and his loving mother Rosa has to care for him around the clock. Using a mirror and drawings, Alberto has found ways of releasing his humorous side. Every day he is looking forward to the visits of his pretty neighbour Giselle, for whom he feels a deep affection. Trapped in his sick body and his own bed, the life he desires, however, remains as unattainable as the ocean in front of his home. This heart-breaking Sundance Audience Award-winner captivates through the performance of its lead actor Manolo Cruz, who also wrote the screenplay of the film.
