Short films enjoy a long tradition in Iran. An entire generation is demanding fundamental change, and the five short films screened in this section challenge social conventions on their behalf. They broach such topics as the status of women in Iranian society and the right to intellectual and creative freedom. In typical Iranian cinema style, the directors often blur the border between fiction and documentary and use this as a strategy to raise both formal and social questions.
