Two teenagers, Hakim and Faysal, leave Mardim, the city where they were born, and head for Istanbul to find work. Their real dream is to make it big in Germany, where one of their cousins already lives. Hakim and Faysal, like many others from their hometown, decide to earn quick cash selling mussels. The couple soon become friends with two Bosnian refugees: 40-year-old Medina and her daughter Elma, who suffers from heart disease. Medina has been trying for a long time to find the money to pay for her daughter’s medical treatment. When Medina suddenly disappears one day, the distraught Elma has no choice but to rely on her new friends Hakim and Faysal.
