Peter is in his mid-forties and the CEO of a large Danish cargo company, closing million dollar deals on a daily basis. Young family man Mikkel works as a cook on one of the company’s freighters. When that ship is captured by pirates off the Somali coast, Mikkel and the rest of the crew, are taken hostage. Peter takes responsibility for dealing with the kidnappers, meeting his match in the process. The rules of conduct observed by the Somalis are very different to those he knows in his office life. Meanwhile, Mikkel is the hostage selected by the kidnappers to use as bait for the ransom money, with his life depending on the moods of the pirates and the negotiating skills of his boss. KAPRINGEN weaves the fate of two men together; one imprisoned in the Indian Ocean and the other imprisoned in his office.
