by Szabolcs Hajdu
Eszter and Farkas are discussing the existential questions of their marriage and the upbringing of their unruly son in the middle of the night when suddenly the doorbell rings. Unexpectedly in trouble and looking for a place to stay, Eszter finds her sister along with her family on her doorstep. No sooner are they all in and accommodated than differences of opinion, resentments from the past and emotional moral debates surface, leaving the adults on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Luckily there are kids in the house – even if they are impossible ones! Reminiscent of Bergman or Cassavetes, director Szabolcs Hajdu cast his own family members and created this densely staged, no-budget masterpiece within his own four walls – an alternative way of winning awards at A-festivals!
