I Want to Be a King / Man Mikham Shah Besham

Mehdi Ganji|DOK: Familie & Beziehung

It all began when Abbas offered two rain-drenched tourists a place to stay for the night. His hospitality turned into a lucrative business. More and more travellers searching for an ‘authentic’ Iran found their way to Abbas Hotel, located in the country’s picturesque south. Unsatisfied, Abbas has an ambitious dream of creating a new nomadic village for tourists and becoming its sovereign. In the meantime, his wife and children are doing all they can to stay on top of the work created by the ever-increasing number of tourists… I WANT TO BE A KING is a tragicomic documentary about a man who, in his patriarchal vision, failed to take into account the opposition of wife and children.
