With HAIR, Forman brought the identically titled Broadway Musical about the flower-power generation to the screen. Claude, a young man from Oklahoma, travels to New York City. Once there, he befriends a group of hippies and falls in love with Sheila, an upmarket girl. But, alas, their happiness together is short lived as Claude is conscripted and sent to Vietnam.
