What should have been a harmless trip to the lake completely changes the life of 18-year-old Nate when he injures himself jumping into the water and is left a quadriplegic. While Nate loses all hope for the future, his mother Claire works tirelessly for the well-being of her son. As a last resort, she provides him with an unusual animal companion: Gigi, a capuchin monkey, who is as curious as she is intelligent, to support Nate in his everyday life.
