From the Wild Sea / Fra Det Vilde Hav

Robin Petré|DOK: Umwelt & Natur

Violent storms are brewing off the British coast, and animal welfare volunteers are preparing for a harsh winter. Seal pups are warmed with infrared lamps, oil-polluted swans are gently cleaned, and a beached whale awaits rescue. Director Robin Petrés’ atmospheric footage captures how climate change and pollution are becoming an ever-increasing threat to wildlife, while her sobering yet poetic images simultaneously highlight the complex relationship between man and nature – as both threat and helper. The focus remains on the animals throughout. Thanks to impressive camera work, we always meet them face to face, as if they are seeking to catch our watching eye. Nominated for the Science Film Award
